Municipal Public Library was founded in 1947.
Nowadays, apart from the central library in Krynica-Zdrój there are a few affiliated ones. These are:
- Branch no 1 (for the young) by the St. Czarny Potok 27
- Branch no 3 by the St. Źródlana 39
- Branch in Tylicz, marketplace, in the Village House of Culture
- Branch in Berest
Library provides a wide range of different types of books and not only. Readers can borrow fiction literature, popular science, classics, new book releases, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, elaborations and textbooks for school children and students, guidebooks, maps and publications on region. There is a possibility to:
- use a magazine reading-room
- order books from other libraries
- deliver books for older or disabled people to their houses
- borrow recorded books for the blind
- to be helped when looking for specific information, addresses, information on region
Library organises: meetings with authors, exhibitions, poetry competitions, activities for children (Summer and Winter Holidays with Library, games, trips, etc.), lessons for children and youth, cultural and occasional events (Meetings of the Merited Inhabitants of Krynica, Grandmother’s Day, Mother’s Day, Christmas Wafer Sharing Meetings, Song Overview).
Our resources are free of charge. Those without permanent address in Krynica-Zdrój borough are asked to pay deposit of 10 zl per book.
